“Feeling dance in light”

Recipient of three Knight of Illumination awards, Fabiana Piccioli has just been honoured with the Danza & Danza Prize for her site-specific lighting design for “Die Seele am Faden/Soul Threads” by Friedemann Vogel and Thomas Lempertz at the San Simone Church, a highlight of the 2024 Spoleto Festival. She shares with Maria Luisa Bussi, the Danza & Danza Magazine Editor in Chief about her trajectory, from being a dancer in Belgium, to her stint at the Romaeuropa Festival before joining the Akram Khan Company in London as technical director, where she began and developed her practice as a lighting designer, to working internationally today with leading creators across dance, theatre, opera, and music.
